Sport for All – Breaking Barriers Together

In May 2026, our team travelled to Szigetszentmárton, Hungary, to take part in the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “Sport for All – Breaking Barriers Together”, hosted by the Budapest Association for International Sports.

Together with 44 young people from Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Spain, we spent 9 days exploring inclusive and adaptive sport, discussing diversity and equal access, and learning how to make physical activity truly available to everyone.

One of the highlights of the exchange was a game design challenge — participants worked in international groups to create their own sport activities around themes like communication, trust, inclusion and diversity. Each game was designed to work for mixed abilities, with no special equipment needed, and tested live with the whole group.

Below you will find some games created during the project. We encourage you to try them, share them and adapt them for your own community.

Communication and Inclusion games you can try :

WHISPER GAME

Participants stand in a line. The facilitator whispers a word or phrase to the first participant, who then passes it along the line by whispering. The final participant says the message out loud to compare it with the original sentence. Optional : use different languages.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Divide participants into groups or lines
  2. The facilitator whispers a phrase or word to the first participant.
  3. Each participant whispers the message to the next person only once
  4. The final participant says the message out loud and compares the final version with the original message

Participants experience how information can change during communication and understand the importance of active listening and clear messaging.

DRAWING ON THE BACK

Participants stand in a line facing the same direction. The last person draws a simple image (for example, a happy pig face) on the back of the participant in front of them. Each participant repeats what they felt on the next person’s back until the first participant draws the final image on papers.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Participants stand in a line. The facilitator shows a simple drawing to the last participant only.
  2. That participant draws the image on a paper on the back of the next person. The action continues until the first participant receives the drawing.

Participants understand that communication is not only verbal and that messages can easily change when transmitted indirectly.

MULTILINGUAL COUNTING GAME

Participants stand in circles. Each person counts in their own language. The goal is to reach 15. Counting happens randomly — there is no fixed turn order.

GENERAL RULES

– No verbal communication between players is allowed.
– If two players say a number at the same time → restart from 1. If a mistake is made or a number is skipped → restart from 1.

– The players are not allowed to communicate or decide turns before the game starts. The numbers must be said randomly, without following a specific order of players.

Round 1 : non-verbal communication (hand gestures, facial expressions…) allowed. Other rounds  : No gestures, then progressively no eye contact or other forms of communication.

Use these games to promote diversity and teamwork and encourage reflection : how to foster a more inclusive environment through gameplay? Can we promote language learning and cultural exchanges in a fun way? Is listening more and speaking less improving communication?

Engaging activities are now a powerful tool to improve workplace culture or when teaching students. So if you’re looking for more inclusivity and diversity-related games, you can read our other articles!
