Nurturing Earth and Wellbeing

The project aims to support the knowledge and abilities of young people in terms of nature, nutrition, sustainable development and mental health. Activities during the exchange will be different, from camping to basics of agriculture and taking care of your own seedlings. In this way, participants will integrate and get closer to nature. Such extensive contact with the natural environment is intended to demonstrate the positive influence of being outdoors on our physical and mental health (e.g. stress reduction). Participants will also learn several methods of caring about the environment and fighting for its best interests.

Actions to be undertaken during a project:

It is a youth exchange for 40 people from 8 countries. Activities:

  • Being outdoors which will allow participants to come into closer contact with nature and feel its positive impact on well-being,
  • Training in the scope of soft skills (e.g. joint work on crops, presenting and discussing sustainable development) such as critical thinking, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving and communication to promote living with nature, finding green places and talking about problems that hurt the environment,
  • Physical activities outdoors, e.g. camping, walking, cycling, gardening, building habitat structures, in order to maintain physical and mental health,
  • Relaxation exercises based on nature, e.g. mindfulness, introspection
  • Learning of theory, e.g. about the basics of sustainable development, environmental protection, and the positive influence of nature on mental and physical health.
  • Working on a presentation on a chosen topic related to the subject matter of the project.
  • The knowledge gained from the exchange will be needed to perform post-exchange activities.

What are we doing during a project:

  • We raise awareness about the positive impact of nature on physical and mental health.
  • We educate participants on how to care about nature and introduce them to the basics of sustainable development and environmental protection.
  • We acquire soft skills, e.g. communication, teamwork, problem-solving skills, critical thinking. Participants i.a. work on a presentation on a topic of their choice what allows them to develop just in this aspect.
  • We learn gardening and cultivating our own culture of edible plants.
  • We learn to discuss sustainable development and well-being.
  • We create post-exchange projects that aim to consolidate the knowledge of participants and promote such values as sustainable development or growing your own food. Projects will focus on imparting practical knowledge on how to care about the environment in the local community of the participants.
