Youth Articulate voices for social change
The YouthARTiculate: Voices for Social Change project is an international initiative directed to young people, the aim of which is to enhance their role in society through creative activities in favour of social change. In this project, participants from 6 countries learn how to use art and culture as tools of activism, gain practical skills in the scope of running social campaigns, teamwork and communication, and they have the possibility to cooperate with decision-makers. A project includes workshops, international exchanges, local and international events or online actions that are aimed at building a network of young activists and promoting an international dialogue and equality. Due to YouthARTiculate, young people gain a space to express their opinions, develop their hobbies, and have a real impact on the world around them.
Actions that will be taken during the project:
- 29 – 31 August 2025: Youth Participation Event in Serbia ARTiculate to Participate: Call for Activism; a 3-day youth event will take place in Serbia, in which 12 young people will take part (1 young person and 1 youth leader from each of the 6 partner countries). This event, with the participation of young people, will serve as a foundational activity, in the frame of which participants will gain knowledge, inspiration, and tools necessary to make a significant contribution to the next stages of the project. It will focus on understanding democratic participation, learning about creative activism and developing initial ideas for projects about artistic activism and policy recommendations that will be further developed in the next months.
- 15 – 19 November 2025: Youth Exchange in Malta; ARTiculate to Create: Art for Change; A 5-day international youth exchange, involving 30 young people, will take place in Malta.
– The exchange will focus on practical workshops, acting parts, and discovering different forms of art (painting, music, theatre, digital media…) as tools of social change.
– Young participants will cooperate on creative projects that will be presented during the final conference.
– The event will encourage an intercultural dialogue and aid in making contact between young people from different environments.
- 6 – 7 March 2026: Final Conference in Malta; ARTiculate to Influence: Voices for Social Change; A two-day final conference will be held in Malta, gathering 50 young people, young artists, activists, people working with youth, and decision-makers.
– During the conference, there will be panel discussions, creative exhibitions, workshops and presentations of creative workshops and recommendations for youth formulated in the frame of the project.
– A special session will be organised during which young participants will directly discuss with decision-makers about improving the participation of young people in such events through art and culture, as well as present recommendations.
– Networking – a possibility to make contact with participants and celebrate the achievements of the project.
What we do during a project:
- Increase awareness about the role of young people in society and the possibility to influence decisions made on the local, national and European levels. We learn how our efforts may viably change our surroundings and counteract social isolation
- We acquire new abilities in the scope of creative expressing yourself – we learn to use art, culture, social media and digital tools as ways for running a social campaign and actions for social change.
- We learn project management: plan, organise and realise events, workshops, meetings with decision-makers and promotional measures. We develop leadership competencies, learn teamwork and intercultural communication.
- We create social campaigns – jointly design and implement that are aimed at countéacting discrimination, promoting equality, tolerance and active citizenship. Our efforts are directed both to youth and local communities.
- We build a network of young activists – make contact with peers from different countries, exchange experiences and inspirations, jointly work on recommendations for decision-makers and create sustainable partnerships on behalf of positive social change.
- We cooperate with decision-makers at the time of conferences and meetings, we present our ideas and recommendations, and we learn how to run effectively a dialogue with people responsible for youth and social policy.
- We promote an intercultural dialogue – taking part in international exchanges and events, we explore different perspectives, learn tolerance and openness for diversity.
