5PS: PEOPLE, PLANET, PROSPERITY, PEACE, PARTNERSHIP

The project aims to introduce participants to the Sustainable Development Goals adopted in the UN Special Agenda in September 2015. They cover a wide range of challenges from five areas – People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership – which are to be achieved by 2030. Nowadays when consumerism and individualism are on the rise, Europeans need to be aware of the importance of sustainable development and understand the EU’s role in it. Hence, the main goal of the project is to engage young people from six countries by passing them the knowledge and skills necessary for tackling global issues and creating a better, more sustainable and socially just future.

The project will take place in Hassmersheim, Germany. Participants will attend the following workshops: People – the development of humanity and human dignity, Planet – the protection of the environment, Prosperity – inclusive and sustainable economic growth, the workplace, Peace – peaceful and inclusive societies, Partnership – working together in order to put ideas into practice.

Activities that will be carried out in the project:

• Dynamic team games on EU knowledge: creating a timeline of key moments in EU history, learning about EU institutions – dividing participants into groups, each representing a different EU institution: the European Parliament, the European Commission or the Council of the European Union
• Workshops focusing on leadership and team building
• Workshops on the five areas of sustainability: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, Partnership
• Post-project visit – organised one month after the exchange to discuss the results of the project with local partners and decision-makers

What we will do during the project:

• raise awareness about sustainable development,
• introduce the history, institutions, and role of the EU in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda,
• activate youth to build a sustainable future,
• promote EU values,
• exchange good practices on the implementation of solutions for the 2030 Agenda between countries,
• teach cooperation and respect for the values of other nationalities in pursuit of common goals.
